Title: Gauge Bezels - Painted or Chrome?
Post by: Spacecrab on March 13, 2022, 08:58:46 PM
Hi guys,

A quick question for you: were the gauge bezels originally chrome, painted black or was it an option?

I want to replace my set: the speedo worm gear is totally wasted and I don't see a repair in it, the amperes and water temp are modern and don't match the rest. The gas gauge has been adapted and the PO has stuck the original gauge inside a plastic outer shell which only leaves oil pressure as original and working

Mine is a 54' Cj3b

Thanks in advance for your help,

I believe original were black.  Here's a few examples:

Image from Lawrence Wade's '55 and from his Owners Manual.  Last from Neal Rohrke's '55.  Both unrestored.
