Title: Minimum wiring to start engine

I am new to a lot of this. I have a 52 CJ3A that was rebuilt but not completely out back together. I am going to get a new harness from Walcks eventually but I'd like to hear it run. What are the minimum wires I need to start engine? Any help greatly appreciated!

That would be the old fashion “HOT WIRE”.
You simply run a small wire from battery “+” to coil “+”.
Distributor wire goes to coil “-“.
That “closes” or completes the “ignition” circuit.
No key required !
And don’t just leave the hot wire attached If engine is not running or else that will burn the coil out.

To actually start depends on your starter system.
Do you have some form of floor switch or a solenoid  system ?

Normally with the various types of foot start switches a solenoid is not required.
A heavy gauge cable runs direct from battery to the switch.
Another heavy gauge cable runs from switch to starter.
With circuit closed by depressing the switch; High amperage runs through the foot switch itself.
