It appears that Champion now makes a correct side mount radiator for the late 3A and 3B. Ordered this last week and it arrived today. It's Champion P/N CC4964.

It matches up to the old leaky Harrison radiator that came with our 3A.

It sure is shiny.

I painted mine with VHT satin black and it came out very nice. Over a year now and no paint chips. I will add that these new "modern" rads do, in fact, cool much better that the OE two row rads. I get that they look a bit different, but they work! And no shroud necessary.

Thats a good price too! I might need to upgrade my current rad soon too

Finally managed to get the radiator mocked up in my 3A project. Overall, the fitment is pretty good. Had to trim the mounting tab on the driver side due to interference with the shock mount. Also reworked the fan shroud to fit as well.
Also, does anyone know the correct size bolts for mounting the radiator? I'm assuming they are 5/16"?

zhandy,
I can't remember if there's an actual parts list on the 3A anywhere but I do have a 3B Parts Manual. IF the side mount radiator is the same style, then I'm guessing the mounting bolts could be the same too.
Here's what I have in my PM:
GROUP 14-01--RADIATOR
648438 Bolt, hex. washer hd. 5/16" - 10 x 5/8" (Acme)
648439 Clip, tinnerman, 5/16" - 10
4 ea to mount.
They don't look like normal bolts. I had to look up what an Acme screw looked like and sure enough, they have an unusual spiral to them. What you have now will obviously work. To me, if you want it to look like the original then the easiest route is to contact Harry Sheets, http://www.midwestwillys.com/, - he'll probably have a whole bin of them whether the 3A is the same or different from the 3B. I had to order one from him as I could only find 3 when I was reassembling.
Be sure to get the matching clips too. Below is an image of mine.
Added: I needed to include the most important part. A 3A owner will be able verify if this is the type bolts they have or if it's different.

Thanks Rus and the CJ-3A uses the same part numbers for the side mounted radiators.

Thanks for the info guys. I blew it all apart to paint the shroud and get the grille in primer. I'll see if I can't track a set of those down this week.
