Did some searching around but can't find a solid answer. Need to know what the clearance between the windshield glass and frame is without the gasket. Junk MDjuan frame seems the hole they cut is to big. I already welded a strip in so now I have like a 3/8-1/2" gap. What is it supposed to be? Thanks yall.

By circumstance I am currently refurbishing my '50 CJ3A windshield. It is the original unit, and I daresay it has it's original glass too:
"Guardian SafetyPlate
AZ Hi-Test WZ
50".
I'm suspecting the "50" is the year of manufacture for this glass??...
Anyway, I took the glass out of the frame and measured this:
Clear opening between the metal frame flanges:
49-7/16ths" X 13-5/8ths"
This measurement was very consistent all the way across and up and down. (It's a very good stamping whoever did it for Willys)
The glass measures:
48-3/4ths" X 12-3/4ths"
So the glass to metal gap was 7/16ths" on the top and bottom, and a tiny bit under 3/8ths" on each side.
Hope this helps.

Some additional numbers for comparison...
Original frame: 49-9/16" x 13-1/2"
Glass (not original): 48-7/8" x 12-7/8"

I guess I'm in the ballpark. I measured again and got a clearance of .312 top and bottom. And the sides are right at .375 (3/8"). Think there would be any harm in test fitting the glass, then removing it for paint? Seal and glass is from walck's

Best to only install the glass once. Square away the frame, paint and all, then install the glass. Even if the glass is wrong, youll have to do it anyway.

Thanks for tge measurements. Just Seems like the gap is to big for the seal. :-? The gap in the seal between the glass and flange is only like 5/16 with the lock peice in. Maybe my seal is wrong.
