I've got a Best top from a jeep I got rid of a couple years ago. Anyone have a measurement for the "Top Bow" location or a photo. Im having trouble finding the right spot.
Thanks, J.R.

Is this what you are looking for? '49 3A.
-
Thanks Ryan. Yep that was what I was looking for. That is close to where mine is but I cant seem to get the back to work out. It's a 49 3A as well.

Here's another shot from further out. Maybe something will jump out at you as different than your set-up. If you need more pics let me know.

To J.R. and/or Ryan: hey guys...how's it going? I have a -49 3A also & will b installing a Bestop too. My rollbar is slightly higher than my windshield. Is that gonna b a problem? Also, I noticed in the instructions...the first hole I need to drill is xx amount of length from the rear of jeep. Should that measurement b taken from where the tailgate runs across or from where it starts to curve on that side rear quarter panel? Any head-ups would truly b appreciated. Thnx Randy

The roll bar I have is also higher than the windshield and the top still fits over it. I think you'll be fine.
My 3A came with the top already on it so I don't have any installation tips. I can give you measurements from specific locations though if you need them.
I am also not positive it was installed correctly but it fits, works, and looks okay so I'm guessing it was.

Thanks Ryan. That looks right. My main problem I think is the rear part is to high, not enough top to cover the tailgate area. I've tried using the bottom hole on the adjustable support but still to high. can you give me a measurement from the inside edge of the tub to the edge of the mounting bracket ? The instructions I found said to make the holes 27 3/4" and 29 3/4" from the outside edge. It also said to use sheet-metal screws to secure it so who knows. My best guess Is I have the upright in the wrong place somehow.
Randy, you should have no problem with your roll bar. My top was originally on an M38 ish tub with a roll bar and no problems. sure wish I had paid more attension a few years ago when I took it off............... ;D

From the inside edge of the tub to the closest hole for the mounting bracket mine is about 26-1/2", (27-1/2" from the outside edge) which pretty much match what your instructions say.
Do you have all the bows and hardware installed on yours? The top bow does not stand straight up and down - it leans slightly towards the front in order for those little arms to connect to the windshield frame.
-
Yep, mine leans forward towards the windshield and the horizontal rods are in. When yo get a chance can you measure the height from your cross piece to the top of the tub please so I can compare how high it is.

45-3/4" from the underside of the top bow cross bar straight down to the floor of the Jeep. Does that help?
-
Yep, that should do it !! Thanks Ryan, I'll check it in the morning.

To J.R. & Ryan: This will b a huge help when I get my jeep back from the shop. Ty both. Randy
