Title: CJ3A Rear Main Seal Question

Building our CJ3A engine and its time to reassemble. Took out a 2 piece neoprene seal when we tore it down and can not locate a replacement. Ordered a NAPA gasket set and it came with a rope seal. Ordered just the rear main seal from NAPA, which shows the neoprene in the parts picture, but opened the box and its another rope seal. Had the usual neoprene seal issue, too tight, on our GPW and finally switched it out for the rope seal. Question is has anyone with a later CJ3A block taken out a neoprene seal and replaced it with a rope seal? Thanks

I heard that a rope seal is better with those old block since they are not machined with precision like the current motor of today.
