Hi there,
I have seen a lot of Willys industrial engines installed into hobart welders, compressors or generators fitted with a tag underneath the distributor.
Those tags either refer to CJ2A or CJ3A engine types. I understand it is easier to read the serial (R3J-xxx) from the side as from the water pump emboss when installed in the frame.
Do you know if those "industrial" engines were also provided by Willys or Kaiser for direct replacement into CJ3A Jeeps?
If yes, did they also have this tag in place on the engine side?
Thanks
Olivier

Hello Olivier,
The minute I think I know what Willys was up to back in the day, I learn that there are very few hard rules when it comes to these things.
I have seen this engine block style with the raised placard and drilled holes in a 2A and 3A, but there was no data plate installed.
