Title: Can generator pulley be installed on Delco 10si ?
Post by: squidtone on October 04, 2014, 04:51:53 PM
Hello,
I'm setting up a engine test stand for my L134. I'm setting this stand up with gauges, (and I want a charging system also...I'm just weird this way.)  I've got a Delco 10si, 3 wire, and my issue is with the weenie narrow pulley.
Does anyone know if the (I presume autolite) generator pulley will fit a Delco alternator? I've searched but did not come up with a definitive answer. I've never yanked off an alternator or generator pulley...I'd rather know if it will swap before I go crazy trying to remove pulleys.
Thankyou...

I've seen other people swap the pulleys, but I have not done it myself. The problem is that alternators are designed to spin faster than generators so the large diameter generator pulley installed on an alternator will not allow for the best performance of the alternator.

Thanks Bob
I tried to remove a pulley from an early 60's Delco 12v generator, and I can't get it off. I'd have to fabricate some kind of puller to do so.
Then I thought maybe I'll just run the 12V generator...it seems like it'll bolt right up to the L134. I'd have to buy a 12V regulator.
I will give up for now and see if I can get away with running a wide belt on the narrow alternator pulley. I'll report back when my attention swings back to this.
It also occurred to me that if I keep asking annoying questions, I should at least finally introduce myself on the other section in the CJ3A forum....
