Title: Brake pedal/plunger
Post by: Kikilee on August 20, 2014, 08:23:46 PM: I have the tub off of my 1950. Is the tub what keeps the brake pedal from over travel causing the plunger to come out of the master cylinder?

If that's the case what do you guys use when you drive around with no tub on your frame?

I know it's a dumb question, but I've had my tub off for a long time and I'm an old guy that can't remember like I used to.

The tub does stop the brake pedal travel which keeps the plunger from falling out of the master cylinder.

To hold the pedals in position, I bolted a piece of plywood to the tub mounts on the frame.ï¿½ Here is a photo.ï¿½ Hope this helps.

Post by: Ryan_M on August 20, 2014, 08:53:16 PM: I opted for a slightly cruder approach than Tim's fancy handcrafted floor boards (is that mahogany or Brazilian Cherry?).

A length of chain anchoring the pedal arm to the exhaust manifold worked for me.

LOL...no, not original. I've heard somewhere that flames may give me a little horse power advantage ;). Just trying to have a little fun.

Never even considered that. Painting flames on a bell housing is a win win proposition! ;D

Then how do I keep them cool? I don't have painted flames and my feet are toasty enough!

To the question at hand, I also went the tie up approach and used some 1/4 rope and tied to a spot on the frame ahead of the pedal.
