Title: First year for repro tubs?
Post by: JohnR on November 17, 2013, 08:38:39 AM
Hi Guys,
Can anyone tell me when repro tubs first started being produced? Per another thread of mine, it looks like my tub is a repro wiith characteristics of an MB, M38 and a CJ. Glovebox, shovel indents, etc. Just looking for some history. Two infants and shift work have prevented me from ANY garage time for pictures, but hopefully soon.
Thanks,
John

My guess is somewhere in the 1970-1973 era.  I think almost all, if not all, were MD Juan products and that company has been very progressive of late to improve both the fit and acuraccy of their products.  I have not seen any of their posts here but you could contact them from 2A, 3B Pages and ECJ 5 and likely get an exact date.

From a functional stand point, the indents and glove box would be useful attributes if not going for a completely stock restoration.  And if that is the case, maybe the body mounting, floor pedal errors, and a few errant holes wouldn't be too big a concern, especially if already fitted to the frame.
