Title: Amp gauge reading
Post by: macrisel on June 07, 2013, 11:57:31 PM
What should my amp gage read when the motor is running?  Mine stays at 0 all the time unless I turn my lights on.  Then, it drops to around negative 15-20 amps.  I am thinking that my voltage regulator is bad.  I have had my starter and generator rebuilt and the regulator is the only thing I haven't done anything to.

Sound like it's not charging. Could be the voltage regulator, or other things.

Thanks Bob.  I talked to Carl Walck and he is sending a new one my direction!

Well..............I received the new regulator this afternoon and went to install it this evening.  When I pulled it out of the box it was marked "2192     12V".  I am assuming this is a 12 volt regulator that was stuck in a 6 volt box by mistake. >:(

Looks like I'll be trailering the Jeep to its first show.... :'(
