Title: Rear main seal kit has three ropes in it???????

I know what the two short ropes are for and the two round rubber plugs but what is the long rope for? I need to know this before I put the engine in the Jeep.

Engines prior to number 54100 used a packing for the front crankshaft seal. That would be what that long third rope is for.
