Title: Questions about swedged lugs/hubs
Post by: philshevlin on October 12, 2011, 09:28:36 PM: First off, I'm new here. ï¿½I have a 51 3a I recently picked up. ï¿½I'm redoing the brakes all around. ï¿½I picked up the brake overhaul kit from Walcks.

I am trying to replace the drums on the front. ï¿½I think I have original drums and hubs. ï¿½I need to be separate the inboard drum from the hub. ï¿½I've read that it is best to remove the swedge and knock out the lugs.

I'm not sure where the swedge ends and the lug starts. ï¿½Anyone have a photo or tips on how best to do this? ï¿½Here's my drum next to the replacement. ï¿½They look very different to me.

Post by: Carls_jeep on October 13, 2011, 10:19:18 AM: Well, he covered it pretty good. I would call Walcks and ask about the different look of the hub. It may be that is a hub used for something else that is modified to fit the Jeep.

Post by: macrisel on October 13, 2011, 12:40:08 PM: When I bought my hubs from Walcks a few years ago, they sent hubs for either a 3B or a CJ5 (I don't exactly remember). Seems they had several in the warehouse that were incorrectly labeled. Wasn't a big deal, they just sent the correct one to me and I went on down the road.

Give them a call and send them some pics, you may have the same issue I did.

Post by: Gunslinger on October 13, 2011, 02:33:51 PM: there seems to be a lot of "Universal" stuff out there these days, to me, if one size fits all, then no size fits right. Be carefull.
