Title: 6 leaf leaf springs?

Just picked up a full set of 6 leaf leaf springs for my 51 3a. Bought them off craigslist.  I was told they were new off of a cj2a restoration.  The po said he was building a m38 accurate restoration and the springs made his jeep ride a little tall for his taste. 

Any idea what springs they might be?  A small lift doesn't bother me but I hate to spend a full day installing them if they are something weird.  Who makes 6 leaf willys springs?

Also, can I convert to full shackles or should I stick with open shackles?

How thick are the leafs? I have a set on my 49 that match your description and the leafs are 1/4-5/16" thick. I don't know the make.

The individual leaves are thicker than normal. Is there anyway to measure to see if they are lift springs before they are installed?

The extra lift will help if you plan to do trails, especially rough trails. Do the ends of the spring mounting loops look like your current springs and are the length and width the same?

You don't need closed shackles.

Same l and w as factory springs just taller. I guess I will put them on some new c shackles and see what happens. How do you measure for shocks once new springs are on?  Just measure from mount to mount while sitting flat and go to parts store?
