Does anyone have a picture of the interior of such a wiper?
Axle is missing...
-
Ive had them apart, but I didnt take a photo of the part you need. The shaft is attached to a flapper that swings back and forth in the oval cavity. If you see no sign of a shaft (cut offbroken off, etc) then I wonder if the motor is also missing the flapper?

Here is a link to a website showing a sequence of photos showing you the guts of the vacuum wiper motor...

Great and many thanks.
Now, the blade seems to be in its housing, because when I action the manual lever it gives sucking noises and actioning the lever takes some force, though much less now that I gushed it with WD40 several times.
How much force does it normally take to action the manual lever?

Sucking noises and force are a good sign that the flapper is there.
How much force one should feel is difficult to describe in words. The good motors I've messed with require some effort to manually engage, but not enough that the manual lever feels like it will break.
You will want to clean out the WD-40 and lubricate it with something a little heavier. In addition to lubing the flapper, a heavier grease also has some "sealing" qualities between the inner wall of the cavity and the flapper. I use a medium level White Lithium grease that seems to work fairly well. Opinions on the type of grease will vary.

where can you get gaskets and parts for these motors?
-
anybody?
-
There is a guy on eBay selling a set of NOS gaskets for a ridiculous price.
If you dis-assemble the motor carefully, in many cases, you can save the original gaskets.
There are no reproduction parts that I am aware of. Best to get a decent core and rebuild one from two.

These appear to be a good match for the vacuum motors I've had apart. I just have a hard time paying $20.00 for a couple pieces of cardboard. Especially when the vacuum motor didn't cost me that much. [smiley=huh.gif]
