Title: Clutch Grabbing / Jumping
Post by: Tumbleweed on August 02, 2017, 03:09:51 PM
I noticed the other day that when I shift to reverse or 1st gear my Jeep jumps (shutters) when I release the clutch. Since it is only 2 years (restoration) old I don't think its a bad disc. I have not tortured the clutch/transmission on hills or pulling.

I think I may have had a leak and oil got on the disc. From what I read I need to replace the disc. Guess you can't get the oil off the disc.

This sound about right to ya'll?

You might take that inspection plate off the top of the bell housing and have a look. It's not unheard of for a clutch or pressure plate to break or loose a spring.

If it looks good I might just try to clean it with some non-chlorinated (green can) brake cleaner. Nothing to lose really....

Good idea - I'm not really excited about having to put a new disc in.
