Title: Yoke Nut Removal
Post by: Belmondq on March 21, 2017, 09:35:10 PM: Any advice on remove these nuts? Not finding any tools to keep the yoke from spinning while busting the nut loose.

Post by: 1955CJ-5 on March 21, 2017, 10:26:07 PM: You might get some flat iron stock or angle iron...I think home Depot and Lowes carry short lengths......

Drill the iron so that you can bolt it up to the u-bolt holes on one arm of the yoke...then I'd hold it and hit it with an air or electric impact tool, or you might be able to use a breaker bar... I'm guessing you have a socket.....I don't remember the size, but O'reillys carries individual deep impact sockets...measure the nut in inches and millimeters and they may have the size in one or the other...heat always helps...cleaning off the threads will help also..

Post by: LKap on March 21, 2017, 10:59:28 PM: Putting the transmission in gear, t-case in 4-lo and an impact wrench worked for me. My impact is a Milwaukee electric and it worked fine. I tried a breaker bar and it didn't budge and the whole rig started to roll. If memory serves that is a 1 1/4 nut. Someone please check me on that.

Did you manage to get it loose?

Is that on the rear differential?
