Hopefully someone can supply you with what you're wanting.

I'll add some notes from the latest Dispatcher, Fall 2018, in an article, "Squeezing The Go-Devil For More Power." by Jim Allen.

It is part # 640035 and had 0.35" milled off. The article continues by explaining measurements and clearance limits that need to be observed.

Great magazine with lots of information in it!

Rus,  it doesn't look like that article is available online.  By chance in the article do they state what the overall thickness of the "high altitude" head should be vs. the thickness of the standard head?  I had a head shaved last summer .040" and the machine shop said that would not be a problem.  But, I don't know for sure if the head I shaved had had any taken before.  Would love to know the total thickness's before and how far can we go.   Also, do you know if the high altitude heads are the same as the "Super Sonic" heads?  Is that just a distinction without a difference?  Thanks.

Supersonic heads were never stock on a CJ. They were in the car line of Kaiser-Frazer.

Tom,
It does. Jim's article indicates a standard head thickness is around 2.1406" (+/- a few thousandths). The higher compression head should be around 2.109" where he cautions not to exceed this as clearance is an issue. Lots of detail explaining all the things that could be affected. I'd highly recommend reading the full article as Allen's explanation is a bit extensive (I'm no expert - just regurgitating info I've read).

On that, it seems appropriate to insert a shameless plug for the Dispatcher magazine. This revival that Bill and Kevin has developed is beyond my ability to fully describe! You should strongly consider adding this (and their calendars) to your "need to have" jeep publications!

I'm curious I went to the Dispatch back issue page and there is no article listed in any of the magazines for 2017 or 2018 with that title. Are there more articles then the list of contents on the page shows I would be very interested in having that article.

Mark.

I noticed that too, Mark.  Thought I'd roll the dice and order it anyway.  Should have it in a day or two and I'll let you know if the article is there.

I had to do the same thing before I saw what y'all are talking about.  This latest magazine:

https://www.dispatchermagazine.com/back-issues/the-dispatcher-fall-2018-vol-4-no-3

It was at the tail-end of the article, "Go-Devil to Hurricane," article (this article was listed in the top margin as a Feature).  The article I referenced was referred to in the margin as 'Of Further Interest'.  Both articles by Jim Allen.  So I guess it was intended as additional information vs. a full article (only one page).

It's also not in the Table of Contents of the magazine.
