Title: CJV35/U Oil Filter Housing Help
Post by: h8pvmnt on February 22, 2018, 12:24:11 PM
I have 3 CJV35/U jeeps i am working on. These of course were CJ3A's modified for the Marines in 1950. I have determined that the oil filter would have been a civilian filter housing using a C3 canister not a military housing. I have also concluded that the housing could be Purolator or Fram with the Fram being more common. The issue i am having is identifying the difference between the Fram and the Purolator and trying to find the correct decals for the housing, Looking for pictures of the two different correct CJ3A civilian filter housings. I have searched the web till my fingers hurt but cannot find definitive pictures or answers. It seems to be a confusing issue for some reason.

At times, it can be helpful to expand your search to include the CJ2A. Many parts from the 2A were the same for the 3A.

Here is a helpful link that may narrow your search a bit. Click the drawings to enlarge...

If I'm reading it correctly, the civilian size filter housing with the 2-part band is a Purolator.
