Title: Radiator fixing
Post by: Guy on February 24, 2017, 05:36:42 AM: I'm looking for pictures of an engine bay on how the radiator is fixed in a factory fresh configuration, as a CJ3A came of the factory line.
Reason for asking is that currently a much larger (longer) diesel engine in my jeep resulted in moving the radiator about 2 inches forward on new welded brackets on the tube frame.
As I'm restoring the jeep to its factory condition so the diesel has to go but I'm not sure how to place the radiator back again.

Post by: Bob W on February 24, 2017, 09:59:01 AM: A regular production 1952 CJ-3A used a side mount radiator that was bolted to the grill. A Belgian army CJ-3A probably had a bottom mount heavy duty radiator. This would have been mounted the same as on CJ-2As and early CJ-3As.

This is a photo of the front tube that I needed to repair.ï¿½ You can see the heavy duty offset tabs used to mount the radiator.ï¿½

You can just see the tabs on the back side of the tube in this photo...

Seems these tabs have been removed on mine, unfortunately

The upward welded piece was the new attached for the radiator. This piece blocks the correct installation of the grill.
