Title: Oil line clip
Post by: Ryan_M on January 24, 2015, 08:02:53 AM
I discovered a new-to-me part last night while inspecting an M38 motor. My 3A did not have this clip nor does my other M38. After consulting the parts list I have determined it should be there.

"A-1289 CLIP, 7/16" (Oil filter tube to engine plate)"

I never liked the way that oil line just kind of flopped around next to the fuel pump and apparently the Willys engineers didn't either so they made this clip. Now everyone go run out to the garage and check your own vehicles :D

The two motors I have without this clip also did not have oil filters...so I guess Bubba tossed those clips along with the filters.

Non CJ/military engines didn't always come from the factory with oil filters.

Ryan,

This is why I love the CJ3A page! I was thinking the same thing, why does this oil line just flop around. I'm going to dig through my old parts and find a darn clip that will fit.
