Can someone remind me where the single metal mounting clip on the wire going from the fuel gauge to the sender is attached?

There are references to this clip position, but I don't know for sure where it belongs.  Hopefully Bob W, or someone with an intact original set up will help.

It goes on the rear view mirror bolt.
