Dear friends
After patiently cleaning layers of paint on 1953 cj3a we found that the original color would be Sabre Rogue, which looked correct as per the year paint code sheet.
After a lot of search, I am still unable to find an original picture of the said paint code on a 3a.
Request members to help me with the same.
Attaching a picture what I think is Sabre Rogue.(the pic is posted as a reference)
Regards
Dinesh

Hello Dinesh,
I had not heard of this color being used on a CJ3A. I looked it up online.
I can only find a reference to the Sabre Rogue paint color being offered on Willys Overland Sedans, Trucks and Wagons. They don't list the CJ3A Jeep.
"Luzon Red" is one of the more common CJ3A colors, and it is quite similar to Sabre Rogue. They both are a maroon color...with Sabre Rogue appearing to be a bit darker than Luzon Red.
All that said, Sabre Rogue could have been a CJ3A color, but perhaps not very common. There weren't many 1953 CJ3As made. They were transitioning to the CJ3B. Maybe search for this color on a CJ3B??

I have the feeling (no proof) that Willys was not too fussy about the paint color they used. My 49 is supposed to be Potomac gray, but I am pretty sure it is actually Pickett gray. I would not be surprised if some production guy said ran out of red paint, send over what you got LOL! Anyway that is a great color!
