Title: Hole identifying M38

Cleaning up the body I found a pair of 1 1/8� diameter holes in the rear fender, just rear of the center of the axle, there is one hole per side, can�t figure out what they would be used for. I cleaned out the holes and there was OD paint in them, they look like they have been punched not drilled.

Jeep is a 52 M38

I�ve found the same hole on other M38�s but can not find out what it�s purpose is.

That hole is for the top bow bracket/socket. Here is a picture I found...

Well, more accurately, the hole is for the top bow retaining pin that must extend through the socket.

I don't have an M-38 but I looked long and hard at one to buy, checked parts availability etc......wish I had bought it!

Thanks for the info, I�ll have to find the brackets that go over the holes.  :)

I think most suppliers have them.
