Title: Factory Primer Puddle?
Post by: JeepFever on May 03, 2015, 11:22:16 PM: I have been doing a little work on the fenders of "Hoover" . . . my '51 CJ3A project.

I noticed an interesting condition on both fenders.ï¿½ While sand-blasting with a small handheld blaster, and hitting what appeared to be flaking paint in the corner of fender bracket,ï¿½ I came across what appeared to be very think primer.

Is it possible that the factory dipped the fenders in primer,ï¿½ the rear of fender facing up,ï¿½ and the result was a puddle in this location?

Both of Hoover's fenders have this.ï¿½ ï¿½If the primer "chunks" are removed, there is bare metal under them.

FYI,ï¿½ the order of coatings on this '3A in every instance is -> 1) red primer,ï¿½ 2) tan,ï¿½ 3) forest green, 4) white.

Anyone else ever see this?
