Crazy, huh? A 3A in that shape would be lucky to bring $1000. Always makes me wonder how many more "treasures" like that are sitting in barns somewhere, their values possibly unknown even to their owners.

In another discussion about the MA it was mentioned that a restored one went for about 50K last year some time. From what it seems like and the rumors I heard the seller was looking for even more from this one in the world, unrestored but complete example. Supposedly it was bought quite a while back for $400 from a gas station, and would have been even cheaper than that if it hadn't just had 4 new tires installed.

It really is a cool machine but for that price I could own 2 or 3 pretty decent 3A's..and a  driveable Surrey too.

F Bill - agreed, for the current bid ($39,200) I could have several CJ2/3a's. Unfortunately, my budget is closer to $200. If I was some crazy-rich guy like Buffet (Warren or Jimmy :D) I'd jump in. Until that happens, I'll just take delight in the jeep being taken care of.

So this "original" MA went for $39k. Yikes!
Oh, and it's not all original.
Windshield, radiator, bell crank, axles, air filter, back seat, horn, grille, bumper, gas tank, front seats are not original. Who knows what else. But it's close.
Says "no rust problem" yet the pics show several areas of serious rot.
Says it's running - not. It was running 50 yrs ago when it was parked.
"It ran when I parked it."  ;D
As pictured, there's no way it's running.
Still, it's one of only a few in existence and for those who are into rare, military hardware, it's a fabulous find.
I disagree with the seller, I think it should be restored.
To each his own.

It didn't actually sell, the reserve wasn't meet.

Oops. I missed that subtle point.
So $39k wasn't enough. Wow!
I wonder how much he really wants for it.
