Title: jp4evers 3a
Post by: jp4ever on September 25, 2015, 04:08:18 PM
Hello, to all the welcomes.. Thanks!

Tim I am not sure what exactly I have! my dad bought two jeeps and made one, a long time ago. just recently he told me the motor was a rebuilt one from the sears, robuck ,company.

It had not been started in years, turns over fine though. A three week wait while the starter got rebuilt, then a new coil clean the points, gas drained new plugs...the whole nine yards! Now I am waiting on a 6 volt solenoid, I hope to have it running within a week or two, but its a jeep thing so it will prolly be more like a month. once I know I have good compression,(still need to check) spark and fuel all at the right time, I will let everyone know when it starts. thanks jp4ever

I need to add my 23 yr old daughter is helping me, so I try to wait until she can be here...to help :) Quality time!

Well, we finally got old Nellie started! I have a gear driven all state motor and even tho it would seem that number one should be at bottom right it is at bottom left (dads terminology). I still cannot get the distributor  to move, I have joined cj 2a and searched here and there I can not find a way to get the distributor free any help would be appreciated.

Daughter is coming over on new years so, weather permitting will see what Nellie does when we put it in gear :) thanks to all who read this jp4ever

I've always had good luck using heat to free up stuck distributors. I use a rosebud tip on the torch and heat the block just below the distributor.
