Title: Not a 3A but still a jeep!
Post by: Quebec Jeep on October 29, 2012, 09:54:29 AM
I tryed to register on earlycj5 forum and I got an account but I was not able to post and later on my account get deleted. !?!
Anyway, Thanks F Bill to have asked my questions over there.

I know that you will like it so I decided to post it here.

I spotted a CJ-6 1967 on sale. PO listed it as a 1967 but after I discussed with him he changed the year to be a 1962.
Here was the pictures from the Ads;

As usual when I plan to buy something far away, I asked for more pictures.
Here is what I got;

Here is a closer look of the serial number;

(http://pages.videotron.com/lavoip/index_files/Forum/SerialNumber.JPG)

I did some research and based on what I found, 8605 is a DJ-6 with an open body. Wow!
I look more deeper and If I'm right, serial number 10062 was made in 1965.
Without more clue I decided to buy it! It's a bet.

So here it's my jeep half way trip;

I soon as arrived, I took picture of the serial number of the motor;

(http://pages.videotron.com/lavoip/index_files/Forum/IMAG0467.jpg)

It look original for me; 4J418884.

Then I checked the serial number on the frame rail;

(http://pages.videotron.com/lavoip/index_files/Forum/IMAG0469.jpg)

10062. It matched the number on the plate on the firewall.

So, I paid it and loaded it on;

Now the jeep is at my dad home. I need to do more research on it. My hope is that its a real DJ-6 1965 used for postal.
The title match the number but not the description.

Ill give you more update soon.
Thanks for watching

I tryed again this morning to get registered with earlycj5.net without success. My account was deleted two hours after it's creation.
I'm not able to reach someone from earlycj5.net.
joel@earlycj5.net does'nt look to be a valid e-mail address.

Anyone have an idea why?

Thanks

No clue there. It's one (of very few) Jeep forums I'm not on. (haven't owned a CJ5 since before computers were out! ;D)

Very nice score!!

Any idea if the dual tanks were factory?  Or if the pass side tank was added later on?

Waiting to hear more history on this one!

The fuel neck and passenger side panel look original.
The neck look very similar as what I have on my 3A.

As far I can see under the seat, the fuel tank is original. I will remove the seat next weekend.

The mileage is 29374.

Hi,

I still own the DJ-6 jeep.

I spotted this one for sale and I'm thinking that it will make a good donor parts to fix the DJ-6.

It's a 1966 CJ-6.

Here is the dilemma. Should I try to save the DJ or the CJ?

If you were me, you'd save the 4WD vehicle.
But
The DJ is more rare so maybe it should be preserved.
I don't know.

By the way, I see they both have the F-head 4 cyl engine.
Any questions you have on that, go to the CJ-3B forum. The F-head experts live there.

The DJ is already 4WD. Previous owner added transfert case and tranny for it.

So it's basically a CJ-6. It still missing the V-brace on the frame at the rear.

I just registered yesterday on the 3B forum. The dark side tempted me.
