Title: My 49
Post by: Operation Overlord on June 27, 2013, 05:34:41 PM: Here are a few photos of my 49 3A.ï¿½ I just finished paint and installing new tires.ï¿½ I'm currently working on electrical and finishing the paint on the small stuff and frame.ï¿½ It's not a frame off restoration.ï¿½ My goal is to get it to look halfway decent while I get the mechanicals working reliably.ï¿½ Then down the road buy a new body and do a frame off.ï¿½ I'm hoping to get it to pass inspection soon.

Post by: Operation Overlord on June 27, 2013, 05:36:46 PM: The Monstaliner covered a lot of my bad body work and seemed like the cheapest way to go for me. Plus I just rolled it on in my garage. Didn't have to worry about spraying and making some type of paint booth.

I think it looks great...and I really like the look of the tires.

Are they STA Traxion's? 15's?

Post by: Operation Overlord on June 27, 2013, 10:18:23 PM: Thanks. The wheels are used. I sanded them...primed them...shot them with spray can gloss black (several coats) then put another spray can clear coat on top.

I finally got my generator back from rebuild and installed it yesterday. I was looking forward to a test drive today but then sprang a leak in my lower radiator hose. So now I'm back to waiting for parts again. Oh well, that will give me time to finish up painting the other pieces and finishing the wire harness install. I did notice that it charges now so thats a plus. Here's a picture of my rims during the painting process. They started out bright red!

Post by: macrisel on June 28, 2013, 12:55:15 PM: Looks good! I think you are on the right path by working on the mechanical side of things first and getting it driving. After you drive it for a while, you will know what needs to be fixed and wont' have to worry so much about scratching the paint/bodywork. I wish I would have went that route with mine instead of tearing everything apart as soon I got the jeep and doing a frame off from that point. I am still finding little things that need to be fixed, but without the jeep running and driving I couldn't know before hand. Plus, I have to be VERY careful and not dent/scratch the amazing finish my body man did!
