Does yours have the 2-stroke that runs either way to give fwd and reverse or is there some sort of gearbox?

Don't turn hard and brake at the same time until you get a roll bar on it :D

Post by: Ryan_M on September 08, 2014, 09:43:07 AM: It is a two stroke and yes the motor runs both directions. It does have landing skids on the front corners so I've been attacking the turns like a sprint car driver.

Post by: 1955CJ-5 on September 08, 2014, 11:27:10 PM: The Harley Davidson golf cart was a huge upgrade from the lead-acid rechargeable electric carts. The Harley would go all day long and many times the electric carts wouldn't even go a round.

In about 1970 or so when AMF owned Harley they marketed a bunch of two-stroke motorcycles under the Harley name..anywhere from 50CC to a 250..I think they were Italian made, Benelli's maybe....

Post by: Ryan_M on December 08, 2014, 04:42:08 PM: This was going to be my BIG WINTER PROJECT until I dragged home that other M38. Now it's been taking up valuable garage space but I have not allowed myself to move it out to the shed until it was done...or at least pretty close. It still needs some tinkering but I drove it around the yard tonight and have deemed it a success.

I decided to paint it to match my 3A - Potomac Gray with red wheels, gray seats, and black trim. All I need now is a small trailer so I can actually tow it behind the Jeep.

When they had a tournament they would get many of the * waitresses from the Sahara Tahoe to drive these things around loaded with booze...

We were always there to help if they needed a ride.....

I was just wondering the other day what had become of your HD.....good to see that you are putting those restoration skills to good use... :D

BTW, did you have the seats reupholstered, or do you have some magic coloring potion (like paint) (or maybe shoe polish)?

New seat covers are at least $200. No go here. I found some rattle can paint specifically designed for vinyl. It had great reviews online and a couple cans did the trick. I patched the biggest hole with some silicone and then painted 'em. You can still clearly see a lot of the cracks in the seats but that's why it's the "Booze Bomber" and not the "Cognac Cruiser". Lipstick on a pig. A fun pig, though.

It worked great. I've had people ride in the rear seat and the color did not rub off onto their clothes.

Post by: Ryan_M on December 10, 2014, 03:00:37 PM: Mine was the Rustoleum "2x Ultra Cover". Supposedly binds to vinyl and is flexible. Amazon reviews were good so I gave it a whirl. We'll see how it goes. It certainly can't hurt anything as the seats are pretty rough already.
