Title: CJ3A / M38 resurrected
Post by: pgbuick on January 31, 2016, 10:48:12 PM
After 3+ years, finally drove my project last week. Working out few small bugs, but everything works surprisingly well, although the 5.38's are quite the gear with the strong Buick V6 and a T-18 trans!

An overdrive is a must with the 5.38s!

Looks good!  I wish for larger pictures though.

I vote yes on the overdrive.
And bigger pics would be cool.
I rotated the little ones for you.

I'd like more info about the V6 install. I plan on putting one in my M38 and could use the help. Pictures of the motor mounts as well as the other mounts would be great.

Thanks Skip

Skip,
I have thousands of photos of my build.  I used motor mounts from Advance Adaptors (#713011) and Novak also makes a set.  Things were a bit tricky for this build.  I kept the front crossmember intact, used Herms reverse pattern Ford power steering box mount kit, made a custom steering shaft from a DJ column and Borgeson parts, used the stock Buick rear exit exhaust manifolds, hung pedals from the dash and mounted hyd clutch and master cyl on the firewall.  The trick was using the exact right size aluminum radiator from Griffin.  I wasted a lot of time trying to make the stock radiator fit -it's too tall and outlets are wrong.  Using the T-90 trans would be a lot easier than the T-18 I used.  Let me know what pics you want and I will email them to you.
