It's funny how much better it looks with tires that hold air.

Any updates on this one?

Really liked that baked patina look.

Pulled the drain plug, and nothing but water came out. Not rusty water, but mostly clear. I went back up top, and the shifter now is not stuck, in fact, it shifts rather smoothly now.
I'm puzzled to say the least. But happy! :)

I also pulled the plug from the T.C. because IIRC, they share the same fluids. Nothing but a few drips of sludge came out. It shifts also ok. So, I think I will flush them both out with ATF and diesel, and refill with gear oil.

It is good enough for me right now until I get the engine running to see if it is worth saving.

On another note, with the tranny un-stuck, the engine spins over a whole lot easier. By hand I'm talking. It feels normal now. I believe I will pull the tub and swap frames for the unmolested one on my parts heep.

I have eight of the OEM wheels, and would only need 6, so I will gladly sell the rest. I plan to put them on my friends balancing machine to confirm they are not bent first.

The wheels on are some I had laying around from past CJ projects, except the grey ones are borrowed from my Samurai. ::)

Your jeeps look 100% better already! I see you have new wheels all around....be sure to hang onto those old wheels even if you don't plan to use them...they are sought after by some...

The lockouts are aftermarket. The drive flanges on the parts jeep keep the front axle spinning so you engage 4WD on the fly. They make the transfer case synchronized. Most people get rid of the drive flanges and add the lockouts. When you only have 60HP, the drag caused by the front axle is multiplied.

Both Jeeps safely at my house.

What is the deal with the lockouts? The parts Jeep doesn't have any. Was it that way from the factory? It would be full time 4wd correct?

As of now, I do not know if it is worth saving. I did get the engine to turn over barely, but the tranny is frozen up in gear.

I do have a spare parts heep.
