I'm thinking about using a portable pump. It will be much simpler that way.

What's the specified RPM for the pump at rated GPM?
1,200?
1,800?
If so, you'll have to drive it off the engine.
In 4-Lo the reduction is about 6.9:1 - add the PTO gear box reduction and you're under 100 RPM at the PTO output shaft. That'll never move any water.

So last Saturday in town, there was a parade and I took Ted. I also dressed up in my brush fire gear and someone from else from the fire dept. did the same thing and rode with me. Afterwards, the assistant chief said I should put a pump, tank, some hose and a bumper sprayer on Ted so we can use him for brush fires. The funny thing is I was thinking the very same thing the day before!

I was thinking about running the pump off the rear PTO, but that won't be good because the PTO goes through the transmission and 3rd gear (or 3rd OD) would be the best to get the RPMs up in the pump and I would also want to be able to pump and roll in 1st with the pumper sprayer. So, I'm thinking it has to be driven off the engine, probably off the 2nd crank pulley. What do you guys think?

I rebuilt the carb today. He runs great now! Along with new plugs, wires, cap and rotor. I didn't realize how far out of adjustment the metering rod was. Hopefully now he will be good for a while!

Got the new Jerry can holder built. Now just have to wait for the paint to finish drying so I can drive it again!

They are firestones. I still have them, but they are pretty dry rotted. They did really well off road with the deep lugs.

I got the back repainted and my 4wd decal on. Also the spare is mounted in its stock spot again.

I really like the tires that you got from the power wagon.  those are my favorite tires for a flat fender jeep.  I'm curious how the 30" tire looked on the jeep.  did you ever mount them?  if you still have them, I would really like to know the manufacturer and style.  thanks, and congrats on the jeep!  looks good!

Ok, that rear rack I made started to destroy the body. I thought I had plenty of support to keep it from cracking the sheetmvetal but it did.... >:( So I said goodbye! to it. Gonna put the spare tire in its stock location and just build a jerry can holder like my red jeep has. Ted is retired from hardcore wheeling, so thats why I'm return it back to stock. Plus, forestry roads have to be wide for the 2.5 and 5 ton tankers/engines to get down the roads, so there won't be an issue of catching the spare on a tree!

And it broke the rear body mount off too.

So I welded up those cracks and holes and repainted it. Good thing it is only rustoleum! I also did the tailgate script in black too.

Thanks Nate,

I was looking at Beachwood and they offer a trail/summer top specifically for the 3a, more expensive but not outrageous...I've got the bows...

I haven't tried it with civilian bows, but it looks like it would work just by looking at the bow locations.

The M38 center bow has some canvas clamps on the roof and they look to be dead in line with the civilian center bow pockets.

Hi Nate,

Did you happen try the M38 top with the stock cj top bows?  I like the M38 top and it sure would be neat if it would fit without modifying or making a set of bows....it just looks like it might work...

The lighting in the garage makes the pictures come out bad. I'll take some more today outside.

Sorry Randy, this was the only one there!

 :( :(
We are used to get more nicer photos from you. Those one are fuzzy and not clear.

And I don't see enough details about the swing away spare tire carrier. ;)
