What was the intended purpose for the 1/2" holes in the frame siderails vertical surface  2-1/4" behind the front bumper and just above the front end of the front spring front hanger? Thank you

The 4.27 FDR was standard after 11/1962 for all F-134 powered CJ's.

The D44 is very similar to other D44's except it has an updated (stronger) differential housing.
Also has the stronger larger diameter 19 count involute axle shaft splines.
.
The ring and pinion gear are smaller diameter than D25 but available axle ratios are more numberous.
Two input yoke sizes were used but the F-134 D27 axles used the larger and better 1310 yokes.
The D27 has upgraded hubs which accept slightly larger wheel bearings than D25 hubs.
Most all other components are fully identical and interchange with D25 axle assemblies.

Has anyone replaced 3A axles with 67-70 CJ5 axles? Both are Dana 27 front and Dana 44 rear. What adaptations were required or might be necessary? Ratio would be 4.27. Any obstacles,tips or suggestions would be very much appreciated. 814-226-6956 eves. or zephyraire@hotmail.com. Thank you
