Well Gents I think with your help I figured this out..I will post my findings in the event it may help somebody... Bought my turn signal switch from Walkes... tail lights from Pep Boys.. left one was wired all ready for rear plate.. front lights and flasher I found at   superbrightleds.com I bought the 3/4" 7 lumen prewired bulb... step drilled the existing holes in the front grill, added a touch of adhesive and the they just popped in the hole... Then used new lenses and trim... Looks original in the front but has the advantages of led lights... Thanks all for your help... Randy A.

That's a nice flasher! Many early turn signal switches require the 3 terminal type which would be part number 44890.

Just an FYI, NAPA sells a flasher with a resistor built in for LED lights. The manufacture is Grote, part # 44891. It solved the issues I was having with the LED's staying lit.

Thanks all....when I turn the indicator on the proper lights light... left for left right for right...The unit was bought from vern and is new...I will try and find a flasher designated for led's...at least I feel a little better knowing my wires are right...

The way a "flasher" works is the current draw heats the circuit and causes the contacts to open which turns the bulbs off. Once the circuit cools, it closes the contacts and turns the bulbs on. It has been my experience that LED's do not draw enough to open the contacts which leaves the bulbs on constant. Make sure you are using a flasher meant for a four bulb system, or a modern car with LED lighting, not a heavy duty flasher meant for use when towing a trailer.

I spent A LOT of time trying to get LED's to work and finally gave up. I know it's possible but I certainly couldn't make it work. If nothing else, you may be able to learn from some of my mistakes here.

We may need to know what signal unit you are working with.  When you say all the lights light up, do you mean the left and right sides light up at the same time?  Or just all the lights on the side you select?.
Yes, a LED set up needs an electronic flasher unit as the LED's don't have enough load or current draw to work with the older style flashers.  Normally though when trying to run the older flash units with LED's, they will at least flash, but at a fast rate.  So maybe something else is wrong.  Try connecting a regular incandescent bulb in the circuit and see if it flashes and that will tell if you are wired correctly.

Gents...Hope this is the right spot for this question...Just finished installing turn signals on my 3a, when I put the indicator on either direction all the lights lite but no blinking is involved...have tried two different flasher units to no avail...all new turn unit as well as wiring...My question would be I installed led lights for both ends...would that entail any type of relay or other device to allow lights to blink? I have verified all wires and have a good ground...all lights work as needed except for that no blinking part...any and all help would greatly be appreciated...Thanks...Randy A.
