I'll add my Welcome also Glyn. Glad you're here! Like BMIC, I'm also here in Maine on this side of the pond. I also have a '49. It has been in the family since I was a little kid. Dad passed in '75, and I have been carrying it with me for the last 40 years! Need to get it rebuilt before I pass and MY son will have to finish it!
A suggestion. Bob Westerman (A member here on the 3A page, username Bob W) has written a Great book, "The Civilian Jeep, Model CJ3A, A guide to it's features and evolution, 1949 - 1953". You can order it at cj3a.info/book/index.html $25.00 Many of us here on the page think of it, and use it, as a bible. Highly suggest you get one.
I too am looking for a tub. Dad for what ever reason tossed the body, except for the windshield, all those many years ago. Trying to find and save an original. Having a tough time. Go to the Message Board, Tech Talk, and the first entry is about MD Jaun Body/Tub. There are TWO years of entries there! All you need to know.
Glad your here. Use the heck out of the Search feature. If you can't find what you need, post the question. Great bunch of guys and gals here that are willing and able to help. Terry
