Thanks for the welcome! This past week, I officially acquired a "barn" 3B. It's a '53 and hasn't been moved or been run in 20-25 years, but like what seems to be almost all such Jeeps, "It was running when it was parked". It has four flat tires, lots of dust and some rust, but several extra parts. Its former owner and I had been toying with it, a bit. The engine has been freed, and the starter works, so next I'll be chasing a "no spark" situation. (I'll begin by cleaning all ground points, and then follow suggestions I've found on this and other Forums.)
It came with the Title, signed-off by the original owner, but my friend never transferred ownership to his name, so I guess I would be the second official owner, if/when I get it going and transferred.
The bad:
The barn is some distance away and has no electricity or heat. In fact the doors are frozen closed until the Spring thaw. It's cold in there.
The barn also is a crowded mess, so getting to anything in there will be an undertaking.
The original owner installed a Go-devil L-head engine (which is in it, presently) apparently after the original F-head failed.
The good: My friend bought it with two F-head engines - one sold as "ready to run" (back then); the other, presumably the failed original. Also an extra 3B frame and some body parts, all spread around the crammed garage, and presently difficult to move things.
FUN TIMES AHEAD!
