Derek has some information about hardware.

I've seen images of jeeps where the hardware wasn't painted, i.e. the body parts painted, then assembled with plated hardware.

If the footman loops were added later by a dealer or owner, I couldn't say whether it was painted or not.

As mentioned in the paint section, sometimes w/s frames were body color but also commonly black.  Maybe that gives you some wiggle room to decide which you like better.

My footman loops that I'll be adding are all plated.

1954 CJ-3B.  Getting ready to paint body. From the factory, were the footman loops installed on the body and then painted body color or were they added after body was painted?  If latter is the case, I'm assuming they would all be black?
