My passenger side tie rod is bent too.

While searching for a replacement part locally, I discovered that the tie rods available here in Brazil are made with a thin walled tube, thinner than the original ones. Probably the steel are not as good too.

So I’m considering making my own tie rods, but I’ll need the drawings or at least the dimensions, because I’m not sure if mine are original or not.

What I know:

- Threads: 11/16” fine thread on both ends;
- Length: 18.75” for pax side and 17.5” for driver side

What is missing:
- thread and longitudinal cut length;
- tube diameter, wall and steel type.


If someone has a drawing or knows the above info, please let me know.

I'm with you. I've just gotten in the habit of writing "passenger side" or "driver side".  This completely eliminates any confusion. :)

Ultimately I ended up replacing all the front end, so I got new "straight" tubes now�

After sand blasting, the steering joints were perished anyway, and made no sense not to get new tubes as well.

When you say right side, are you talking drivers side?  I believe mine is bent as well.  Hmmmmmm  :-?

The tie rods should be straight. 

I did have a bent rod on one project. I did replace it, but wasn't entirely sure how it got bent.  Made me wonder if this was a way to adjust the toe in if the PO had trouble getting the clamps to come loose, or he couldn't spin the rod.  Or, could it have beem too long and this bend served to shorten it?  Who knows at this point.
