The CJ3B Info information is interesting with the serial number limit at ... "(First of Models Marked CJ-3B O.B. 54-10001 to 12,600)".  Depending on what the "X's" provided, this one may, or may not fit in the sequence.  The last number listed on the "info site" was "1954   CJ-3B OB54 12361", so many out there not accounted for ... yet.

My concern would be the alignment and different font of the "B", as it looks to be an "after thought addition", not an "assembly line type numbering".  In looking at the owner pics available, I found the following ID pic from Jared's CJ3B-OB, and it DOES look similar with just better alignment.  You may very well have found another "CJ3BOB" for the records.

I recently acquired a 1954 CJ3B with an odd serial number. It starts out CJ3BOB 54-12xxx. I’ve done some research on it but was curious if this helps add any value to it? The Jeep is in poor condition but has the original engine and is titled. I have another project going but I’m thinking this one may need to be restored. Thanks for any help or input!

Copied, so it's visible to me.

Forgefire,
I'd say it's a bit of an odd mystery, but (possibly unique).

Derek has some info on the 3B Page:
