The rear frame crossmember is offset.  The best explanation I've read for this is to allow the license plate to be under the taillight for illumination.

1954 CJ-3B.  4 months waiting for body shop.  Got tired of waiting and put new body on chassis.  First question: the right side of the rear bumper stops at the corner seam and doesn't go to the body edge.  Is this correct?  More questions to come later.
