Hi, have you considered an electric power assist, they are quite common in some classic cars because they usually only require a power supply and are fitted online on the steering column. They tend to be quite small so usually you can find space to hide them.

buckbored,
Welcome!  Nice looking 3B!  That's a lot of chrome!  Did your Buick 231 ever have a bracket and pump before?

I've read of conversions, but all involved welding and fabricating.

Help needed.  I have a 1953 CJ3B body on a 1949 CJ3A frame.  The engine is a 1978 Buick 231 Evenfire V6 to a GM auto tranny.  I intend to leave this to my granddaughter when my time is up.  However, with large tires the manual steering is terrible.  Need to convert to power steering.  I realize I need to find a power steering pump and mounting bracket for the engine.  If anyone has a resource, please let me know.  But, I also need the power steering box.  Again, I am clueless.  Can anyone help me with the info I need to make this conversion?  I am sure some of you have already done this?  I am age challenged so any help would be much appreciated.  Anyone in the central Maryland area willing to do this?
