Good to know you're on the mend.

Hard to say what "might" be going on in your gearbox.  I've binded my gears when in 4WD and would back up to release so I could shift back to 2WD.  Not much room to "peer around" gears to see what may be going on inside.

I've seen and read about wear on the front sliding gear (Clutch Hub-where the tiny Synchronizer Plates are) that makes some of the surfaces razor sharp.  Be careful with grabbing and attempting to slide with your hands.

Sorry I haven't replied sooner, but haven't had time to investigate further. Just getting over a bout of covid. I plan on draining the fluid tomprrow, so I can see the bottom gears better. I'll keep you all posted when I find something.

Hiya, any update on your gearbox issue? Did you discover the cause?

I took my CJ3a for another ride, and on the way home, the transmission got stuck in 3rd gear. I limped it home and removed the shifter, and it seems to be stuck in side the transmission. The large rear gear is sliding freely, but the two front ones, which I assume are 2nd and 3rd, won't slide at all.
Any one have any suggestions what i can do short of pulling the transmission out? It's looking more and more inevitable that it's coming out by my hands or someone else's.
