It requires no fabrication except to drill and set up the spacers (washers for me).  I initially planned to pull everything out the front but talked myself out of it.


I believe all instances of dropping the gears, the jeep will need to be up on jack stands (to clear out from under the frame rails.  This needs to be done carefully without you under it while maneuvering.

 Hi, it's all doable with no special tools but a bit time consuming. It's common to drop the gearbox and transfer case together which makes it very heavy. I did it on my own with a trolly jack and some swearing. I would check that the box is not overfilled with oil first before stripping it down just in case. Good luck.

Today was my first road trip with my CJ3a. After months of hard work, it paid off with a ride for about 10 miles. When I got home, and put it in the garage, I noticed transmission gear oil coming out of the drain hole in the bell housing. I'm assuming the transmission seal. I'm not sure if I should pull it my self, or take it to a shop and get it done. How hard is it to pull the transmission, and is there any special tools required to replace the transmission seal.
I feel pretty confident when it comes to the motores and other stuff, but don't have any experience with transmissions.

Any advice will be appreciated. Is there any additive out there that may rejuvenate the seal, and maybe slow it down for awhile, like a stop leak.
