- just make it mechanically sound and have some fun in the hills.

I like that approach!

Hello All,

Just jumped into the CJ-3A world after many years being jeep-less.   There was a CJ-7, a YJ, and a TJ somewhere along the way, but I have always wanted a flatfender.

Found this 1949 neglected outside a local pawn shop and couldn't help myself.

It has a later F134 engine and the awkward hood bump to clear the carb.  Hope to get a low clearance carb and replace the hood at some point.  It's a little worse for wear and tear over the last 71 years, but I'm not intending to restore the body at this point - just make it mechanically sound and have some fun in the hills.  Supposedly came off a local ranch but no documentation to confirm that.  She fires up and runs and is really just what I'd been looking for.  Even has a PTO winch that's kind of cool.

Of course the Mrs thinks I've lost my mind, but I'm still grinning.

Already found tons of great information here and am happy to be here.

Brian
