Hi Dave,
I get my loom from this eBay seller. It's nice stuff. He carries all the sizes for a reasonable price. Hopefully the link works...

You'll need to "see other items"  to find his other sizes.

I went through this a couple months ago looking locally for the 3/8ths stuff. I found stores that supposedly stocked it, but when I went there (several different stores) the folks couldn't find it on their shelves. I finally found a NAPA near me that find it in their stash. I'm using that size for the wires going to the tail lights. Now I need to see if they have 1/4". I'm thinking they just might...
The NAPA stuff by the way is actually a woven cardboard paper-y type of stuff coated with asphalt type material.
Thanks!

Shipping will probably be unreasonable, but I understand if you call they may find a cheaper way to ship....they also have 3/8"...

Didn't see it on Walck's site but I bet they have it...they make their own harnesses...

Ahhh, okay, with effort I got the washer over the clamping ring and if kept perpendicular it won't let the retaining ring pass thereby keeping the wire loom from pulling out. Got it.
I'll try to replicate this although I must now find if NAPA has the 1/4 inch tarred loom stuff.
And thanks for the pictures...they'll also help to me put the lightbulb "dishes" back into the housings!

Looks like mine had them too....between the grommet and the ring crimped on the wire loom..I suppose it keeps the wires from being pulled out.

Hi folks,
I'm finally getting back into my re-wiring on my CJ3A (busy summer, bleah) and I'm getting to the end...literally and figuratively. I find myself at the headlight bucket wiring and I saved the original stuff, and I'm quite happy I can "rebuild" the headlight sockets...they can be de-soldered and re-soldered with new wire. For now I'm not going with cloth wire but I still want to duplicate the fit and function as much as possible.
One thing I'm scratching my head on is the function (and placement) of the large washer near the socket end. It appears as though they resided on the inside of the bucket because they're on that end of the grommet. What is this for? My picture is of only the driver side (with wires already removed from socket housing) but both sides have this washer. Any ideas?
