I believe the French made Hotchkiss, and the GPW stamped numbers directly into the frame metal.  The Willys MB and most CJ2As had the frame tags attached to the frame.

To my knowledge, no CJ3As had either a stamped number or frame tag.

That said, unusual stuff does pop up on occasion.  Kirkski has that unique wheel well data plate.  Very cool...and rare.

This is a guess...  Devin's frame number might be the original VIN from a 1951 or 52 CJ3A.  '451-GB1-19338' or '452-GB1-19338'.  It may have been stamped by a re-builder at some point.  Again...JUST a guess. ;)

I agree with Tim, but what do you suppose that number on the frame is?? I have this faint memory of some having numbers stamped on the frame, but don't remember if it was 3a's or the cj-5....
