Wow, that really is an old title.  I'm the second registered owner of my Jeep, which came from Ogden, Utah, near Tremonton, but my title wasn't nearly that old, it was last registered in 91, 30 years after yours.  Amazing.

I am distantly related to the Hunts in the St. George area.  It's like we have the same great, great grandfather.

Hello Calvin!

Sounds great, there are a bunch of families with the last name Hunt right on my street.  You'll fit right in!!!!   :)  This truly is a beautiful state, with friendly people.  (I'm originally from San Jose, CA.  I've been in UT since 2010).

Speaking of Utah, when I was registering for the CJ-3A database yesterday, I snapped a picture of the last time the Jeep was registered.  It's the oldest  title I've ever had my hands on.  I like it.

Hello Josh,
ï¿½It's great to welcome another Utah member to the CJ-3A site. I'm in the Southeast corner of the state, there's a member up north in Orem (Bretto), and now with you in the Southwest corner we've got the state covered. I have a daughter who lives in St. George. I'll give you a call next time I'm over that way.

and this is just too coincidental not to post.

Looking through the ads, I happened upon that green Jeep again!  It looks like he pulled the motor (it was a 65 from a Mustang probably), and put some better tires on it.

If you need some gpw axles near Vegas, here you go.  http://lasvegas.craigslist.org/cto/3601812778.html

First time I've seen it since I sold it.

That CJ-5 has a bit of a story to it too................................. http://g503.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=192566 (I guess I should delete that thread with the axles for sale????) That link has better pics of the CJ-5 for anyone who's interested.

It ended up having a couple of Ford maked MB (whoops, GPW) axles in addition to the winch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had a very hard time selling it for the $700. I'm sure it needed a TON of work.

Oh, and my tub isn't all that great, I'll post some more pics of that too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for welcoming me!

Hi Josh...

Looks like a worthy project, and a nice Cj5 as well. I think maybe you sold it too cheap with that winch, but hey nothing wrong with passing along a bargain.

Many here are probably drooling over that nice solid tub! Looks like it was well loved at one point..Too bad they had to install those non original rubber mounted tail lights but they are pretty decent lights for trail use if you plan on trail riding. (I'd put in LED versions to really pop when you use your turn signal)

Awaiting the pics of the bent frame.

Hello,

I just wanted to thank everyone for all of the great information and pictures that are on this site.

Here is my CJ-3A.

It's a 1950, and this is where I first saw her parked. I was walking my dogs through my neighborhood, and noticed these two Jeeps parked on the side of an old mobile home. The other is a 1956 CJ-5.

Long story short, over a couple of months of negotiating, I got both for a total of $500. Neither had been moved for over 25 years according to the owner. He told me that he would turn the motors over by hand once a year or so.

I got the CJ-5 to fire up (old Ford 289 was in it), and sold it for $700. I did nothing more than adjust the points, install a new condenser, hook up a battery, and spray some gas down the carb. I never had any intention of keeping it, since I've already got two Cj-5's.

So, now, I'm positive $200 on my CJ-3A!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOT FOR LONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The motor has got a stuck valve, I think (It spins more than 360 degrees, and then hits a brick wall). It's not the original engine, because the previous owner told me the old one was shot (I actually got the dismantled old engine in the deal too).

I've spent the last week dismantling/cleaning, and it's down to the axles/steering and frame. (My frame is really bent, I'll post some pics in another thread to see what you guys think. :-[)

I have a $1,000 budget, hahahaha, and the plans change by the minute...........................

Thanks again!
Josh

Here are some more pictures.

and here is the CJ-5 that came with her.
