Your last description sounds like it's running out of fuel. Check fuel delivery by running the engine and see how much it pumps into a catch can. Make sure your fuel tank cap is venting properly.� Fuel pressure reading and fuel delivery volume are two different things.� If it runs with a gravity drain fuel supply then you have eliminated the carb. John

I know a coil will do that when hot but don't know if it would do it that quick. Check for a rubber line collapsed on the inside. Had the same problem with a 46 2A, I took the carb completely apart and it did no good. My son took the carb back off and took it apart and reassembled it and it ran fine, just one little piece of crud somewhere can screw things up. Good luck, let us know what the problem was.

Normal vacuum reading is between 17 and 21Hg and steady.

Make sure you don't have a kinked fuel line somewhere - especially the flexible rubber one. I kinked one once reinstalling the fender and experienced the same symptoms you have. It would allow fuel to pass for a short while but soon restricted flow enough to cut it off completely.

See if you have fine sediment in the float bowl. Doesn't take much to clog the slow speed circuit. Any leak on the base gasket from those stupid rivets that hold it together, or just the carb being loose will ruin your idle. You already checked the valves. A clean carb is a good carb. Check the slow speed jet also.  John

I had the same issue Austin. Even though my ignition parts were new a new condenser solved the problem. Mine ran fine for a few minutes until things began heating up so after thinking about it I figured it had to be an electrical part breaking down. I actually replaced the coil and condenser so I am not sure which one was the problem but one of them was causing issues. The parts are fairly cheap and I think you will find it's your problem. Parts are not the best quality anymore for sure. Good luck

Try installing a new condenser in your distributor.  A bad condenser can cause similar symtoms.

Last year, I did a tune up. And though my Willys was running perfect, I decided to replace the condenser.  I had a brand new one in my spare parts kit.  Once installed, I could barely keep it running.  I immediately re-installed my old one and it was back to its old perky self.

I have been having a tough time getting my jeep to run. It starts fine but dies after approximately 20-30 seconds of idling. Before it cuts off, it sounds like it is building up pressure and it gets harder to idle until it cuts off. I let it sit for and minute and it does the same thing every time.  My motor was completely rebuilt last September and has since ran 4k miles.
 
Here is a list of the things I have done/checked.

1. rebuilt distributor (done in shop)
2. rebuilt carburetor (done in shop)
3. checked fuel pump, good flow into carburetor
4. checked gas tank, fuel, and lines/ blew out all fuel lines/ checked vent on gas cap
5. blew out exhaust, free flow and not clogged
6. checked all crankcase ventilation and air breather
7. replaced ignition coil, new plugs and wires
8. set points gap on distributor and gap on spark plugs
9. pulled valve cover and checked all valves
10. gravity fed fuel into the carburetor

These are the main things that come into mind. As I said, the jeep was running perfectly up until a couple months ago, or right when the weather began to warm up (if that has anything to do with it). I am completely stumped. I have had everyone I know messing with this and it�s still not running. Any suggestions would be appreciated, I am up to trying anything.
