The adjustment to lean out the fuel is the large spring loaded screw on the front of the Carter.� A general starting point is to screw this all the way in (Only until it stops.� You can damage it if you screw it in too hard.)� Then screw it out two full turns.
To lean out the mixture, you open the screw a little at a time then wait a bit before making more adjustments.� While doing this, you may need to adjust the idle adjuster screw on the back side of the linkage.
The float level is also critical.� If your bowl is overflowing, you may need to adjust the float level, and or, the metering rod.
